UNUSED 285' CDN GUYED ACID-GAS INCINERATOR – 8.36 T/D SULPHUR BASIS #16213

Location:Redcliff, Canada

Description

ORIGINAL PROCESS BASIS

The available CDN project documentation identifies the following original acid-gas design basis:

  • Acid-gas flow: 12.4 × 10³ Sm³/day
  • Approximate imperial equivalent: 0.44 MMSCFD
  • H₂S concentration: 48 mol%
  • Sulphur loading: Approximately 8.36 tonnes/day
  • Service: Combustion of acid-gas emissions

The stated flow and composition represent the original project-specific process case—not a universal maximum capacity. The unit may warrant evaluation for other acid-gas compositions and flow rates, but no alternate-service capacity is represented without application-specific engineering review.

FINAL 285-FT CONFIGURATION

  • Overall height: 285 ft
  • Construction: Field-erected, guyed steel stack
  • Lower structural section: 72-in OD
  • Intermediate structural section: 48-in OD
  • Upper combustion/stack section: 36-in OD
  • Waste-gas riser: 4-in nominal, standard wall
  • Fuel-gas riser: 2-in nominal, standard wall
  • Waste-gas burner: Six-arm stainless-steel burner
  • Burner inlet connection: 6 in
  • Waste-gas inlet spool: 4-in Sch. 40 stainless steel with 6 × 4-in reducer
  • Burner/service-platform elevation: Approximately 150 ft
  • Upper stack sampling connection
  • Stack-top thermocouple connection
  • Caged ladder and service platforms
  • Multi-level guy-wire supports
  • Stamped structural and lifting calculations available

THERMAL-DESIGN INFORMATION

The available heat-loss calculation models a combustion zone extending approximately 130 ft from the burner elevation to the thermal stack exit.

The documented calculation case used:

  • Initial combustion temperature: 1,100°C
  • Flue-gas mass flow: 13,309.52 kg/hr
  • Excess-air basis: 100%
  • Worst-case ambient temperature: −40°C
  • Calculated exit temperature: Approximately 1,061°C
  • Calculation threshold: 920°C

These values are calculation inputs and results for the original design case. They are not offered as independent performance guarantees or maximum equipment ratings.

CONSTRUCTION FEATURES

The final construction drawings identify:

  • Carbon-steel structural stack construction
  • Stainless-steel waste-gas burner and inlet components
  • Refractory-lined combustion section
  • Stack-top temperature and sampling provisions
  • Waste-gas and fuel-gas riser supports
  • Electrical/instrument cable-routing supports
  • Lifting trunnions
  • Guy-wire attachment assemblies
  • Access ladder and service platforms

DOCUMENTATION

Available engineering documentation includes:

  • Issued-for-construction structural drawings
  • Upper and lower stack assembly drawings
  • Stamped lifting and structural calculations
  • Stack heat-loss calculation
  • Original acid-gas process and dispersion data
  • Original CDN Controls proposal
  • Equipment photographs and additional drawings

ALTERNATE APPLICATIONS

Potential applications include acid gas produced by amine sweetening systems, sour-gas processing facilities and other industrial waste-gas streams requiring enclosed elevated combustion.

An exact match to the original 48 mol% H₂S concentration may not be required. Suitability for another application depends upon the complete gas composition, sulphur loading, heating value, normal and maximum flow, available inlet pressure, temperature, supplemental-fuel requirements, burner performance and local environmental criteria.

The original 0.44 MMSCFD flow should not be interpreted as the maximum flow of every possible gas composition.

ENGINEERING AND SALE CONDITIONS

All process figures shown are based on the available original project documentation. The purchaser is responsible for confirming suitability for its intended service and installation site.

Application-specific review should include process performance, burner capacity, fuel requirements, pressure drop, flame stability, residence time, emissions dispersion, foundation design, wind loading, seismic requirements, electrical certification and applicable local codes.

Included loose equipment, controls, valves, instrumentation, fuel-train components, guy wires and electrical components are subject to physical inventory and confirmation at the time of sale.
